She was born into a life of modest means with a lineage directly tied to the royal families of Hawaii. Kealoha developed into one of the most celebrated hula dancers in the world and was crowned Miss Hawaii Aloha in 1939. Her introduction to the world of movies came by way of MGM, who sponsored the event, and sent her to Hollywood to play the part of the native dancer in the movie Honolulu with Robert Young and Eleanor Powell. Movie life was not for her and she returned to Hawaii, married FBI Agent Dan Curnan, and produced seven children. Her former daughter-in-law is author/screenwriter/producer Cynthia Curnan; her grandson Chris E. Curnan also produces and great-grandson Kahokuloa (Hoku) Curnan is an aspiring young musician who also worked as an intern in an Albert Pyun production. Kealoha is in good health and enjoying life with family and friends in Kailua-Kona on the island of Hawaii.
